Olney Alumna, Gretchen (Neumann) Stone MD '71, to Speak About Her Global Journey as a Doctor.

Olney Friends School is honored to announce Gretchen (Neumann) Stone MD (OFS '71) as our guest speaker on Friday, November 13, 2020, at 7:00 PM EST.

The topic of her discussion is "The Nomadic Stethoscope: House Calls Around the World."

Gretchen Neumann Stone '71 is a family doctor who likes to feel needed. Over the past 39 years, her stethoscope has led her to migrant workers in California, pesticide poisonings in Nicaragua, and victims of civil wars in El Salvador and South Sudan. Gretchen has also volunteered for the Nicaraguan Ministry of Health (research), Salvadoran Medical Relief Fund (board member), South Sudan Medical Relief (administration, field work), Quaker Heights Retirement Home (Waynesville, OH; board member) and Olney Friends School (board member, 1999-2005). In 2005, Gretchen and her family began a “working holiday” in rural Australia that has lasted 15 years.
